This is living the dream! Forget Bieber Fever…my childhood was all about Osmond Mania….complete with Donny and Marie dolls, Donny and Marie posters, you name it. Some of my favourite childhood memories include these two superstars.
Needless to say it was a surreal experience to have them come to set for an interview I’ll never forget. Donny dunked my Marie doll in coffee after hearing that I misplaced my Donny and Jimmy doll….we laughed so hard my tummy hurt…they are every bit as sweet and witty and charming and yes….as beautiful as I’d hoped! Expectations were high and they far exceeded every single one.
This is one brother and sister act that will stand the test of time because they are such genuinely good souls….talking to everyone on set….gracious and lovely….can’t wait to see their LIVE show in Toronto…I will remember this day forever….so cool to feel like a kid again…as you can see…I’m feeling downright giddy here! Thank-you for being you Donny and Marie….Canada loves you!
With love and forever an Osmond fan,
Dina Marie (yes, that’s actually my middle name! lol)

What a whirlwind!!! First, it was off to London, England for THE wedding of the century. A media mecca as the likes of Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Anderson Cooper and even Mary Hart converged to cover the most talked about wedding since Prince Charles and Diana exchanged vows some 30 years ago. I of course took full advantage of that fact and interviewed the Queen of Media (Barbara) in what is now a career highlight! She exceeded every expectation…gracious, insightful, charming and witty. Our small but mighty CityNews team managed to figure out the complex tube system after a few go’s, witnessed Wills and Kate’s sweet balcony kiss (es), met amazing Canadians soaking it all in and made it back just in time (fascinators and hats in tact)….for the next main event….UFC #129!!!
Yes….I flew back in Amazing Race style and swapped the silk gloves for fighting ones….UFC was making history in Toronto and I wasn’t about to miss it.
The Rogers Centre was jam-packed, electric and loud! The sound system was amped up to 3x the normal level to reverb on your skin while pumping out entrance songs like “Who’s Gonna Run this Town?” and “I’m Comin’ Home” (not like the crowd needed anymore revving up).
All MMA champions were under one roof for the first time ever….Cain Valesquez, BJ Penn, Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell, Jon Jones…the celebrity contingent was high too…Steven Segal, Drake….everyone was there to witness UFC history in the T dot.
GSP did Canada proud yet again as he defended his title, Randy Couture lost his tooth but not his humour when he lost his last fight….packed stadium, high spirits… all a sure sign of many more events on our home turf….needless to say it’s a tough week to follow…which is a good thing…this girl needs some rest.

The Heart Truth!

posted on March 25th, 2011 - Filed in Uncategorized - No comments »

The gowns, the clowns (me), the glam, the hams (me again)…the fierce and the fab…it was all part of the annual Heart Truth fundraiser. This year…men were included to help lend their support, a welcomed and wonderful addition!
It was such a fun night for a great cause….our very own Sangita Patel sizzled in an Ines DiSanto gown….Lovas decked me out with a thigh-high slit that we had too much fun with (creating a ‘faux’ tattoo on the femur that read ‘heart health’).
Everyone was having so much fun because at the heart of it…the message was simple….wear bright, bold, red to remind us all of how important it is to put ourselves first….what good are we if we are too run down to be there for our family, our friends or our careers???
Far too many women die from a heart attack because they don’t go to hospital soon enough….time to put our health in the spotlight ladies. We know what we should do…plenty of z’s, eat right, try to get in some exercise and de-stress (I know, insert laugh here)…but if we maybe took 20 minutes to take a quiet bath….it could do us…and more importantly…our hearts…a world of good. That’s just the start…we can be proactive but it will take work. The goal is to be around as long as possible in the most healthy way…I’m going to try harder….are you?
Xoxoxoxo
That’s the heart truth…

Thank-you to everyone who came out to “A Cure in the Future” Retro Gala….what an incredible evening. The Mardi Gras theme….the yummy food, amazing performances by BluSoul and Sensations….a LIVE and SILENT auction and so many wonderful BT viewers. This is my fourth year emceeing and it gets bigger and better every year. The best part is that a ton of cash was raised for the cancer research department at Princess Margaret Hospital. Thank-you to all who took part and contributed to what will hopefully take us one step closer to finding a cure once and for all. In the pictures you’ll notice my Mom and Dad (best dates ever) as well as the organizer, Joe Bianchi and his wife Maria Luisa…she’s 5 years cancer free and served as the catalyst to this annual fundraising night as thank-you for all that PMH did to rid her of the disease. Congratulations to the gentleman who drove away a winner (a gorgeous Mini Cooper Classic was raffled off!!!). It was a win win for all….fun to be had with amazing fundraising intentions at heart. To Frank, your 2g bid on a BT visit….WOW!! Thank-you for your generousity and please place your breakfast order for the group before coming down…least I can do!

Bieber Fever!

If you missed the Bieberstorm that swept through our city yesterday I have got you covered….I was on Bieber watch all day and yes, I am a Belieber!
Loved loved loved his 3-D doc “Never Say Never” (opens February 11th). JB has got mad talent! He plays instruments, sings, writes, dances and acts his heart out to perfection! There is nothing he can’t tackle.
He is a child prodigy so worthy of his global domination because on top of his incredible talent, he has remained a grounded, humble, funny, charming and genuine young man!
This is only the beginning of the hysteria and phenomenon that is Bieber Fever.
After inviting his fans in from the cold at a press conference, he confessed to missing Timmie’s Iced Capp’s and donuts and revealed his new found love for The Big Feet gummy candy….so, I surprised him with some…here’s some pictures from the purple carpet fan premiere last night (he’s laughing at pics of me as a kid sporting my Bieb-type bob, I challenged him to a Battle of the Bieb Bob-off, he said I come in top 5 ahahahahahaha).
What a thrilling day….Justin, stay real, what an amazing role model!
Don’t forget….if you want to see him on BT (Bieber Television) let him and his people know, he hates to get up early but then again…..”Never Say Never” ;)
