The last few days have been crazy! Last weekend I had a wonderful weekend in Stratford speaking at their 10th Annual Garden Festival – those attending gave me a warm welcome by singing happy B-day (See attached video). I also got to enjoy some of the great places in Stratford including a wonderful cheese boutique called the Milky Whey www.themilkywhey.ca a fantastic inn called the Mercer Inn www.mercerhallinn.com and a wonderful meal at Keystone Alley Café www.keystonealley.com. Stratford is such a great place to visit!!

The thing consuming almost all my time is the building of the Canada Blooms Disney Fairy Garden. I must say building a garden out of season does come up with some challenges. I’ve been everywhere looking for plants including Dundas/Waterdown to a great 3 generation nursery Connon Nurseries aka Neil V. Holdings www.connonnurseries.com but it doesn’t stop their I’ve sourced some funky cedars and birch from Oregon and with the help of the Ontario Turf Associations we’ve turned some wire frames into some very cool looking creatures. All and all Canada Blooms this year should be very unique at least our garden will!!

Finally I really want to stress to everyone out there enjoying the weather. Spring is in the air but cooler weather is likely to return. You can go out and clean up the yard by picking up broken stems, branches and leaves but remember it’s way to early to do things like applying grass seed, fertilizer or planting …be patience…my advice purchase some potted spring bulbs to enjoy indoors!!

Off to find some colour for Blooms enjoy the day!!!

Who saw this one coming? I’m blue over Avatar’s big loss (Ben Stiller stole my idea…teehee)….The Hurt Locker swept last night’s Academy Award show with 6 wins over Avatar’s 3. The big shock is that the exes’ (Bigelow vs Cameron) were going in with 9 nods each and Hurt Locker took the biggies of the night (Best Director and Best Picture). Could it be the academy’s way of saying “listen James…we know this is the biggest selling movie of all time, that’s enough of a reward for you…time to give shine to your ex who managed to pull off a deeply moving film on a few pennies…”…seems to be the case.
How else can one explain Sandra Bullock beating out Meryl Streep? Much like Julia Roberts…the rom com actress proved her acting chops and the Academy wanted to salute her over tried and true ‘touched’ actresses like Meryl (who will no doubt be nominated several more times before her career is through).
That said….congratulations to all the winners….and fashion winners too! Loved Jennifer Lopez, Meryl Streep was divine in white and the ageless Demi Moore in her rust number? Stunner! Kate Winslet was perfection from head to toe.
And kudos to a dry and hilarious co-hosting gig by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin….loved the humour they brought to the show. Fave moment? Ben Stiller rambling about putting his tail and hair into a dragon….too funny.

Today we had a Birthday Pizza Party for Kevin & Frank’s Birthday.  They couldn’t attend but it was a good excuse for a little break in the middle of the day.   Check out the video. 

Last night I went to the Alice in Wonderland Premiere with my Son.  It was Awesome and we both loved it.  Amazing 3D Special effects!  Helena Bonham Carter Rocked the part of Red Queen.  Johnny was an incredible Mad Hatter.  We had a really nice Mommy & Son night (Dinner & a Movie).  Check out Mo’s Blog

This morning we went to Rogers Centre to promote Disney on Ice – Let’s Celebrate.  Go to BT Bites to check it out.  It’s an amazing show for the whole Family.

Finally…I’d like to say a Special So Long to Brian Weldon – Promo God!!  We will miss you here at City but we will always be friends.  I will miss you saying….”That was good but let’s try it again”.

So I took a little wee trip to South Beach to meet my hubby (who was on business)….Miami happens to be one of my favourite places to visit….rich in culture, art and amazing cuisine….and the nightlife….non-stop. I still loved the little getaway even though we hit a cold snap…but hey…that didn’t stop me from wearing a jean jacket poolside….(if you can’t beat ‘em…). It was downright balmy compared to the winter storm I left behind Friday afternoon. Which reminds me….if you’re wondering why you’re looking at a GIANT tea stain and a broken bag….that’s how I amused myself while literally unravelling at the airport….delayed flights were half the battle….I finally sat down, ready to sip my piping hot tea and there went my carry-on bag…..handles bursting from the weight, collapsing underneath me and my tea was soon to follow…spilling everywhere and creating a fine mess. I looked like a kid who was anticipating the first lick of a 3-scoop ice cream cone only to have it topple to the ground the moment their lips get close….oh well! Add to that the human target I served as for birds flying overhead (little guys got me twice in as many days)….all in all…it was great fun….and a nice break from the every day….first thing I did upon my return home? Watch the season finale of The Bachelor…..wow! Ali is next in line to takeover and Tenley proved that she’s as loving as she is beautiful….what a doll. As for Jake and Vienna…I wish them the best. So many people are being harsh on them. They clearly have a huge connection and serious heat…it’s undeniable. Understand it or not, it’s there and they need to see where it takes them. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see if they prove us wrong and fly off into the sunset for life! And I can’t wait to see Jake try and improve his shake on Dancing With the Stars…I stopped watching that show after Season 1 but may need to revisit it just to see what he can do! Hope you’re well my friends…try and enjoy the Spring-like temps….
