Top 10 Things to do at Disney with Toddlers and Babies

I’m back to the world of blogging after 2 weeks of vacation!  So it seems fitting to blog about some of my vacation including Disney.   My blog…My top 10 must do’s @ Disney with little ones…my kids are 7 months and 3, I also traveled with BT Producer Kevin Forget his wife Sara and children Kyle 2 and Dyllon 4 months …yes very busy!!

#1 Flight times:

We flew West Jet and departed at 10:30am with a return flight of 2pm back from Orlando.  The perfect flight time, early but not too early to depart from Toronto and a return flight at 2pm allows enough time for final packing diaper changing, bottles and breakfast.

#2 Disney’s Beach Club Resort (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/beach-club-resort/)

One of the best pools I’ve ever seen for toddlers with a depth of only 2ft and a sand bottom plus an area where kids can build sandcastles right in the pool…perfect for parent sanity.  As well the Beach Club and Yacht Club pools also have a water slide for both wee ones and older ones including myself who did enjoy the larger slides a few times…okay at least 10.

#3 Four person Bike Rentals on Disney’s Boardwalk:

Disney’s Beach Club is located right on the Boardwalk and one of our highlights was renting a four person bike with room for both Gavin (3) and Kyle (2) on the front to ride.  Gavin’s job: ringing the bell. My job: gaining enough steam to make it up the hills around the board walk.  http://allears.net/btp/brdenter.htm

#4 Pooh’s Playful Spot in the Magic Kingdom:

So your toddlers sick of waiting in line for a ride and you’re pooped from avoiding all the Disney merchandise they want you to buy…time for Pooh’s Playful Spot.  This was Gavin’s favorite attraction.  Essential just a children’s park but a great place to allow your toddler to blow off some steam my only suggestion bring another pair of clothes or a swim suit.  Pooh’s Playful Spot has a splash area that most children will gravitate to!!

#5 Crystal Palace Character Lunch @ Magic Kingdom:

Also offered breakfast and dinner but lunches work the best without the rush of leaving our resort in the morning.  This is an affordable buffet with a huge spread of food.  We met Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet.  The kids loved it and Laurie and I enjoyed our meal. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=112

#6 SpectroMagic Parade @ Magic Kingdom:  An evening parade with lights, lights and more lights.  Truthfully the best parade I’ve ever seen and Mickey Mouse dressed in an Elvis Jump Suit!!  Loved it!!

#7 Finding Nemo – The musical @ Animal Kingdom:

A wonderful stage production of the original movie “Finding Nemo.”  Colourful costumes, great music and very true to the original storyline we slipped into the performance at the very last minute and most likely had the worst seat in the house but Kyle (2), Gavin (3), Dyllon (4 months), Matheson (7months) didn’t cry or scream but they did watch with full attention better yet I was very impressed!!!

#8 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Merry Christmas Party:

If you every get the chance to go to a special evening event at Disney World jump at it!!  No one knows how to do a party like Disney!!  Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party was jammed packed with a scary but not too scary parade (the parade starts with a headless horseman), several trick or treat candy stations, fireworks and many of the Disney Characters dressed in Halloween costumes.

#9 FAST PASS:

Let’s get real waiting in line with toddlers and newborn’s is an adventure with sometimes tiring consequences.  Fast Pass lessens the burden by almost eliminating wait time. Another not so known tip, parent swapping, if your stuck waiting with the baby but would still like to go on the ride after your spouse returns you can handoff the baby and hop on the ride without heading to the back of the line.

#10 Just let it be:

Travelling with two Toddlers and 2 babies comes with a lot of unknowns.  Keeping times and schedules can be difficult.  Disney has so much to offer and you’ll never get it all in.  Just let it be and you’ll never know what will happen for example.  One night we decided to go to Magic Kingdom at 5pm.  We made it to the park for 6pm.  Just happen to find a great spot to watch the SpectroMagic Parade, after the parade we stayed for the fireworks.  After the fireworks we hopped on the Mono Rail to Epcot for another set of fireworks at 9pm.  While watching the fireworks we enjoyed some great Fish and Chips…a perfect unplanned night where things just came together…to be truthful I don’t think I would have planned it any better!!
